A. National Level Programme: SWOG has been providing national or regional level discussion forums deeply rooted causes of poverty and exploitation. The objective has been to function as public pressure group on legislators of the country for necessary policy formulation.- In the wake of the restoration of democracy in Nepal, a two- day seminar on "Role of Social Workers in the present political context" was organized in Gorkha in 1997. The seminar identified the role of the Non- Government organizations.The national seminar on " Land-use And Land-Ownership" was a landmark in providing a forum to discuss the land ownership issue. The conclusions of the seminar were published and discussed with the members of parliament as the part of its advocacy campaign (1992)
- SWOG was invited to the joint parliament committee meeting on the proposed bill to elininate duel ownership of Land in the year 1994. This is and example of recognition of SWOG by the parliament of Nepal on the issue of Land ownership. At the district level SWOG has been regularly organizing issue-based workshops training camp and mass rallies.
- As an attempt to strengthen democratic process in Nepal, SWOG in association with the NGOF/Nepal had launched Voter's Education Camapaign in the 2nd general election. Considering the very positive response this process will continued in the coming general election. SWOG will be preparing people's manifesto to represent voter's voice to the candidates.
- The two-day seminar on " The practice of Kamaiya (Bonded labour): Realities And Challenges" organized in Dang on March 12-14 1993 can be taken as another complementary activity. SWOG has the credit of holding the first such seminar on the Kamaiyas in which the Kamaiyas themselves discuss their problems in their own environment. SWOG has played a very active role in the liberation movement of Kamaiyas.
