NRM and Sustainable Livelihood Program |

SWOG has been implementing Natural Resource Management and Livelihood Program in Chaudandi, Katunjebabala, Hadiya, Jogidaha VDC and Triyuga Municipality-5 of Udaypur District of mid hilly region in Nepal in partnership with Oxfam HONG Kong for the last six years. So far, SWOG has organized the community in the 30 villages, in 123 different groups involving, women, men and youth for more focused intervention on livelihood, sanitation, disaster preparedness and natural resource management. The programme is reaching to 2879 persons of the community covering 1609 poor households. From this year SWOG will be reaching to 4414 persons covering 2650 households spread in the 50 villages of 6 VDCs and one municipality. SWOG will have focus on water and sanitation, livelihood, natural resources management with DRR/CCA approach. Project will continue working with poor community with more focus on rural women and their empowerment. For the sustenance of the programme and the process, SWOG will have more focus on the institutionalization process and organize community into smaller groups and initiate the process of cooperative. This year SWOG will focus on consolidation and institutionalization of its work in the three VDCs: Jogidaha, Hadiya and Chaudandi. In these three VDCs SWOG will work primarily on strengthening various community based and bringing them under the fold of cooperative. Besides SWOG will continue its work in Katunjebabala and Triyuga Municipality. They are also proposing to work in the two new Hilly VDC Saune and Siddhipur located in the same district with overall focus on vulnerability reduction, empowerment of community and livelihood promotion. The farmers from villages are being organized as village level Farmers Club. The effort this year will be made to set up cooperative and bring all the groups under the VDC level cooperative. The SWOG visualize this institutionalization process as a means for sustainability of development efforts led by community.
